friendship and trying to stay awake...
This is a post for my friends. This year has been a great learning experience for me... and for those of you who know me and my way of life- it has always been to live life without regrets. Because every experience you have, whether positive or not, has potential to be learned from. Where would we be to know what is happy and good, if we didn't have the bad and sad times? Life is like a ferris wheel: it goes around and around, sometimes you're on the top, sometimes on the bottom (and sometimes the ride breaks down for a few and you gotta get it repaired)... but the circle always goes on- it is neverending . Where there is darkness- there is light.
Friendship isn't always easily described. The Eskimos, they say, have a hundred different words for snow. Unfortunately, the English language isn't quite as innovative, though it has vast opportunities to differentiate meaning. Certainly, Love is one of those opportunities. And so, too, is Friendship.
Instead of different words, however, we're stuck with simple adjectives. Close friend. Best friend. Childhood friend. Intimate friend. Trusted friend. Beloved friend. But whether you use adjectives or different words, few could deny the nearly infinite meaning in such a simple word.
Friends are special people. We can't pick our family, and we're sorely limited in the number of them at any rate. Society and mores (and often our own conscience) dictate we select a single mate. But our friends can be as diverse and infinite as the adjectives we choose. Our friends, in a very real sense, reflect the choices we make in life.
In this past year I have truly learned the value of friendship. I can honestly say that I probably would not still be here in harrisonburg if it were not for the most recent friendships that I have made. In July, I wanted to leave here so bad. Everything felt wrong, and I really had nobody to talk to about anything. I was a wreck... so I went and had a girls night out with a friend.
And that night ended at EOC... with the start of another new friendship... and now, a slew of new friends! Every one of you that I have met and confided in in the past few months has meant a lot to me. The Ccameraderie that I have seen and been a part of, and am becoming a part of, has made me want to stay here... I only hope that it stays the same in the coming months.
If I left you out... I'm sorry... and it's 3:35 am so cut me some slack.... leave me a message and i will add you if i accidentally left you out
Lyn: for listening to me, dealing with me on a regular basis... and not sending me back to the adoption agency ;)
Karen: for not giving a shit about the FBI
The Girl Who Does Our Training (Formerly Known As April): you can always borrow my pens... and i will skip town with the cinnamon pretzel
Lisa: Caramel will always be chewy, the top will always be best, and yes- make it supersize!
Chad: For listening to me rant online about stuff and for cheering me up at 3-4am
Opie: for the hugs and listening to me... and letting me ride on the engine (giving me a freakin' dot!) ;)
Tess: Even though you're in NoVA.... you'll always be one of my best friends. Don't block the box!
Kristen: I don't talk with you often but I love our random phone calls about childhood memories and how we can just pick up the phone or meet and it's just like where we left off...
Joanne: Alls I have to say is tequila shots- cabo wabo poster. You and me. It's a date!
Justin Lyoli: you'll always be my canoli brother... thank you for introducing me to the brotherhood in the fire department and I will always love you forever- FDNY!
And most of all, my twin and other half:
Amanda: see our poem below... if i hadn't met you, I don't think i would be here still in harrisonburg... you've helped me through a lot, and we both think with our hearts too much... it is a good thing, but also hurts us- I'm glad though that we have each other to lean on, and I couldn't do it without you... and i know you know that. LL's forever. (i don't think DeeDee will let us live that name down)
and of course I couldn't forget to mention our pimp daddy:
Joiner (i could never forget you love!): the abuse, it's all a sign of love. ;) NO mater how much we show it... we love you! Although, if we ever catch you cheating again... ;) You help make us chuckle
I love you ALL!!! Thank you for everything and for being there...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For everyone:
A Simple Thank-You, My Friend
Into the dim lit, bare walls of my world,
You entered, bringing light and life to me,
The vivid colors, painted with a swirl
Of wit and charm, of personality,
With tender care, you added comfort, warmth,
And images that line the now bright walls.
I look upon them fondly, bringing forth
A thankfulness that you walk in these halls
With me; our friendship has become a part
Of my world now; it has its special place,
Within my being, life, and in my heart,
Your name hangs right beside your smiling face.
Rememb'ring just how drab these walls had been,
I have to thank you for the light, my friend.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For my LL ;-)
I feel like I've known you forever
Although I only met you sometime this year
But our friendship will remain forever
No matter what shall cross our paths and hearts
The best thing that's ever happened to me
Is finding a forever friend like you
You're there to listen, help, and talk to
And best of all, I know I can confide in you
You’re my rock, my strength,
My conscience and my faith.
Forever will I turn to you
That’s what us LL’s do!
Some say the best love is one sprung from friendship
Because those men… they seem to lie!
What will lead us to the future?
Hold my hand and we’ll fly high.
Time leads us in this direction
Friendship and love are intertwined
Forever you will remain my friend
Because without you, I would not survive.

'Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.
~Alfred Lord Tennyson~
Well... you can't choose who you love. You also can't make a person change. You can try to force yourself to see something that isn't there, but in reality isn't, or will never be. It's just... sad. It makes you sad. When you actually truly do love someone, and cannot explain it, and find that love not reciprocated... or find it supposedly reciprocated but in a manner that makes no sense. Haphazard love. Accidental love. It makes you believe it when people call it blind love (course, I must have been blind to love a person like that... )
No matter what you call it, it hurts. And no matter how many times you try to tell yourself you are over something... something happens. It's like a scar waiting to be picked. As much as you try not to pick at it, someone always has the urge to. Why this phenomenon occurs is yet to be explained... but is in dire need of explanation.
"When speaking of lost love, time may heal all wounds, but there will always be scars..."
This is because, well, trying to forget someone who you love... is like trying to remember someone who you have yet to meet. It is one of the single most hardest things to do... even when you have no reason to feel love towards that person. You really cannot help who you fall in love with- and it is hard to forget.
"Letting go of someone dear to you is hard, but holding on to someone who doesn't even feel the same is much harder. Giving up doesn't mean you are weak- It only means that you are strong enough to let go..."
I should have been more careful. I was blinded by his halo so i did not his horns. I guess... sometimes we tend to be in despair when the person whom we love leaves us. But, the truth is, it's not our loss, but theirs... for they left the only person who wouldn't give up on them. We cannot beg someone to stay if they want to leave to be with someone else. We have to admit that love doesn't give us the license to own a person... after all, love means sacrifice. Some people believe that holding on and hanging in there are signs of strength. However, there are these times in life in which it takes much more strength to just let go...
I just think with my heart more than my head most of the time... and it hurts me. (a lot). It's not a bad thing to think with your heart... but it is a trial to find someone else who thinks with their heart as well... (let me know if you know anyone, besides my LL...)
I sure wish I was a kid again, because skinned knees are easier to fix then broken hearts. Life was much easier when we thought boys had cooties, now all they have is the way of breaking your heart... stupid cootie boys!!
"After a while you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and chaining a soul, and you learn that love doesn't mean leaning and company doesn't mean security, and you begin to learn that kisses aren't contracts and presents aren't promises, and you begin to accept your defeats with your head up and your eyes open, with the grace of an adult, not the grief of a child. You learn to build all your roads on today because tomorrow's ground is too uncertain for plans. After a while you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much. So, plant your own garden and decorate your own soul, instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers. And you learn that you really can endure... that you really are strong, and you really do have worth.."

It got stuck...
So, it's official, I'm a TC II! Yay pay raise! :-P YAY no more DOR's. Yay in general. :--)
Today at work was the longest random day ever. From like 3pm on it was steady steady steady...
and i somehow managed to break the radio system by having an open mic and everytime i talked on the phone it went over freq. 1.... my "hello? hello?? shit.... lyn... lyn, something's wrong... help, somethings stuck or something... lyn!!" ... yeah. i dunno what happened. everytime i went to answer the phone it went over freq. 1.... oops.
it was kind of humerous though... lol. It made me chuckle. (now, it didn't before!)
anyways. So it was the worst random possible night ever tonight at work and i hate working 11a-11p. it's not quite 7a-7p or 3p-3a... that wierd middle shift. It messes me up!
But it's my last sort-of daylight shift for a while... i switch to nights with robin next week.
i like robin... but i don't like nights.
IN other news... I just found out my friend Seth is in the army and in Iraq!! Yeah... he has been for a while but i just found out. So... yeah. I now directly know someone who is there. WOW.
(Miss you Seth Jones!!)
Ok. I am BEAT... and before i humiliate myself again today it's time for bed.
Goodnight!!

Survey thing... repost
Just thought I'd update before I go back to working 12 hr shifts for the next two days...
For those reading up since my last blog, check out this site:
http://www.911forthetruth.com/
Again, i'm not trying to inflict anything upon anyone, just putting knowledge out there to absorb. As an emergency services personnel, and a person who knew people who died as a result of this tragedy... it is something that is and will be of constant interest to me.'
Just THINK of what the ramifications would be if something like this were to unravel itself. It's bigger than anything ever before. If it were true, it makes the whole Nixon/watergate scandel look like childplay.
Anyways.
Back to normal posting habits... Bought too much today. Ack. Tomorrow have to work 11-11. Yuck. Then my LL and I have a fun weekend planned out for us!
And, for you faithful bloggers, I decided i'd try a second time in posting this... something happened to it when i posted it the first time!

You gotta think outside the box..
I'm not here to judge and say what is and is not true... but I have been doing research on this for the past few years and these people have something going here. LIke I said, whether or not any of it is true or not is up to your discretion. I'm just providing some of this for general knowledge... read the hyperlinks below, and read about Michael Ruppert's book below as well... think outside your little box for a little.
And register to vote. There is SO much at stake in this election. I'm not saying I approve of either candidate... but research your issues and make the best decision for you. And here are some of your issues to read up on...
List of training exersises that your vice president Cheney had the military doing on the morning of 9/11. Read the list
Government Conspiracy? These guys think so.
This Flash Animation might be of interest to you
The dog that did not bark.
Makes you think a little, don't it?
(again i'm not saying these are true and right, think for yourself... please. look at all aspects of a story before making a judgement call!)
Anyways... here's another interesting thing...
Announcing the release of Michael C. Ruppert's new book
CROSSING THE RUBICON: The Decline of the American Empire at the End of the Age of Oil"
Michael C. Ruppert
foreword by Catherine Austin Fitts
(New Society Publishers)
Crossing the Rubicon: the Decline of the American Empire at the End of the Age of Oil by Michael C. Ruppert is a detective story that gets to the innermost core of the 9/11 attacks. It places 9/11 at the center of a desperate new America, created by specific, named individuals in preparation for Peak Oil: an economic crisis like nothing the world has ever seen.
The attacks of September 11th, 2001 were accomplished through an amazing orchestration of logistics and personnel. Crossing the Rubicon discovers and identifies the key suspects and persons of interest -- finding some of them in the highest echelons of American government -- by showing how they acted in concert to guarantee that the attacks occurred and produced the desired result.
In describing the contents of the book he has spent two and a half years researching and writing Ruppert said: "In my new book I will be making several key points:
1. I will name Richard Cheney as the prime suspect in the mass murders of 9/11 and will establish that, not only was he a planner in the attacks, but also that on the day of the attacks he was running a completely separate Command, Control and Communications system which was superceding any orders being issued by the NMCC [National Military Command Center], or the White House Situation Room.
2. I will establish conclusively that in May of 2001, by presidential order, Richard Cheney was put in direct command and control of all wargame and field exercise training and scheduling through several agencies, especially FEMA. This also extended to all of the conflicting and overlapping NORAD drills on that day.
3. I will also demonstrate that the TRIPOD II exercise being set up on Sept. 10th in Manhattan was directly connected to Cheney's role.
4. I will also prove conclusively that a number of public officials, at the national and New York City levels, including then Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, were aware that Flight 175 was en route to lower Manhattan for 20 minutes and did nothing to order the evacuation of or warn the occupants of the South Tower. One military officer was forced to leave his post in the middle of the attacks and place a private call to his brother -- who worked at the WTC -- warning him to get out. That was because no other part of the system was taking action.
5. I will also show that the Israeli and British governments acted as partners with the highest levels of the American government to help in the preparation and, very possibly, the actual execution of the attacks."
"There is more reason to be afraid of not facing the evidence in this book than of facing what is in it."

With MUCH saddness...
With much sadness our fish Burner has passed away this morning (No he didn't turn on the other fish). He was found in the broken brisk pitcher upside down. Burial will be held in the bathroom/breakroom at EOC... we've to transport his little body there. Maybe i should call to get a police escort from the motor units. We're trying to get our self together over this tragedy (And of course we have to be at work during this hard time)!!
____________________________________________________________________
I've had to work alll weekend... blah. Saturday I picked up 12 hours of OT (it was my normal shift)... but it was OT because of all the shift coverage i had this week. BLAH. So i'm officially released from training now.
Went to Alstons on Friday with Amanda and Teresa and we had a great time. The Worx wasn't as good as they were in May, buut it was still fun. We spent way too much money too and we need to stop spending! Although i guess my OT is covering for my new jammies i got. ;--)
Anyways... B-Shift Bash was Sat, and that was fun too... we got a little drunk and realized that drunkenness and hot tub really do not mix! Anyways we had a good time and Austin was the best bartender we could have asked for! lol.
Yesterday was *THE* longest day at work ever in life. We had like no calls. I mean that'd be great if ihad internet at work... I must have gone through the J:/ drive a million times looking at pictures and what not. Anyways. I need the internet!!
So... today I am finishing the JMU project and then working some MORE OT at the PD. I am tired of work right now... it needs to stop! Blah. And i don't want to switch to night shift because i HATE nights.... yes it will start to suck for a while in Oct. :--/
I've got to run now though, funeral preparations in progress... it is a sad, sad day. Even the sky is crying!

Friends
Friends do things for one another
They understand
They go a million miles out of their way
They hold your hand
They bring you smiles
when a smile is exactly what you needed.
They listen and they hear
what is said in the spaces between the words
They care and they let you know
you're in their prayers.
Friends always know the perfect thing to do
they can make your whole day
just by saying something that no one else
could have said.
Sometimes you feel like the two of you
share a secret language
that others can't tune in to.
A friend can guide you, inspire you,
comfort you, or light up your life with laughter.
A friend understands your moods
and nurtures your needs.
A friend lovingly knows just what you're after.
When your feelings come from deep inside
and they need to be spoken to someone
you don't have to hide from,
you share them with a friend.
When good news comes
a friend is the first one you turn to
When feelings overflow
and tears need to fall
friends help you through it all.
Friends bring sunlight into your life
They warm your life with their presence
whether they are far away
or close by your side.
A friend is a gift
that brings happiness
and a treasure
that money can't buy...

Here we go round the mulberry bush...
Blah! I guess i can update now that I'm pretty much back to normal and not too sick anymore.
Nothing is really new other than work. Work Work Work. That's my life for the next month or so since we're losing people and what not... I'm on A/B shift now until mid-sept, and then I switch to C/D shift nights for a while until we get the new people trained and I can go back to my normal daylight shifts. I used to not hate nights but man, I can't really work them anymore. Ick.
Anyways. So Friday's supposed to be my last day of training because of all these new people and what not... fine with me. Little raise in pay is nice!
So this storm that came and ripped through richmond a few days ago... Gaston... didn't even know it was coming. THAT'S how sick and out of it I was. (Yes, the NERD didn't know the storm was coming... i know, shocker)... I found out about it Monday when we kept getting TTY's about it. Then I called joanne, who advised me that there was nothing to do when there was 5 feet of water on I-95.... unless you found a canoe and went to go see it. (which is what she did)
But MAN... I'll photoblog some pictures later from it. DANG. I wish I had my Swiftwater certification now and was in Richmond, cuz that would have been pretty dang awesome to work. Of course, I'd hate to be a city of richmond police/fire/rescue dispatcher now... that'd suck!!
check out www.nbc12.com for some pictures.
Anyways, I'm sitting here fiddling around with my new toy, filemakerpro 7. I made a live CAD system for the city of wayfield last week, and i should have just let it go then, but i spent some of yesterday working more on it... i need to stop. LOL. I'm stopping... i swear.
Well, I work Friday, Sat, Sun, and part of Monday... off tues and work wed/thurs and then not again until the following monday. sweeet. Alstons on Friday for the Worx... not too late though.
I'll update more tomorrow I'm sure. Peace!
